How Quotes Work
NC Homeowners Guide helps homeowners connect with local service providers. This page explains what happens after you submit a quote request, what may be shared, how contractors respond, and what NC Homeowners Guide does—and does not—guarantee.
For homeowners
How a quote request works
Submit the quote form with your contact information, property or service area, the service you need, and useful project details.
NC Homeowners Guide may review the submission for service type, location, completeness, spam, and whether we have relevant contractors available. Requests may be routed manually rather than automatically.
When appropriate, we may share your request with one or more selected independent contractors or service providers so they can decide whether to contact you.
A contractor may contact you to ask questions, schedule an inspection, or provide an estimate. NC Homeowners Guide does not set the contractor’s price, schedule, scope, warranty, or terms.
You are not required to hire a contractor simply because you submitted a request or received a response.
What information may be shared
Depending on what you submit, information shared for a quote request may include your name, phone number, email address, property or service-area information, requested service, project description, timing, photos, and other details you provide for the purpose of receiving contractor responses.
For more information about data practices, see our Privacy Policy.
Do contractors pay for leads?
NC Homeowners Guide may receive compensation for qualified leads, introductions, featured listings, advertising, or other commercial relationships. A contractor’s payment does not guarantee a favorable review or editorial ranking. See our Advertising Disclosure.
What NC Homeowners Guide does not guarantee
- That every request will be matched with a contractor.
- That a contractor will respond.
- That a contractor will accept the project.
- That an estimate will meet a particular budget.
- That contractors will offer the same scope, materials, warranty, or schedule.
- The quality or outcome of work performed by an independent contractor.
Contractors are independent
Businesses receiving requests through NC Homeowners Guide are independent companies. NC Homeowners Guide does not become a party to the homeowner-contractor agreement unless a specific written agreement expressly says otherwise.
For contractors
Receiving a lead or appearing in the directory does not guarantee project volume, conversion rate, exclusivity, or revenue. Contractors are responsible for their own communications, estimates, compliance obligations, project agreements, insurance, taxes, workmanship, and customer service.
Spam, inaccurate requests, and availability
We may decline, filter, or stop routing submissions that appear fraudulent, abusive, outside available service areas, incomplete, or otherwise unsuitable. Contractor availability can also change without notice.
