About

NC Homeowners Guide is an independent local resource helping North Carolina homeowners make better decisions about repairs, maintenance and home-improvement projects.
Who’s behind this
NC Homeowners Guide is based in Durham, NC, and was created in 2026 to give North Carolina homeowners a clearer, more honest way to research home-improvement costs and find local contractors, without the sales pressure that usually comes with getting a quote. Too many homeowners end up comparing estimates that are not really comparable, from companies they cannot easily research. This site exists to fix that: clear cost guides, transparent contractor profiles, and clearly labeled sponsored placements so homeowners always know what they are looking at.
What you’ll find on NC Homeowners Guide
Homeowners across North Carolina use NC Homeowners Guide to research typical project costs before contacting a contractor. Our cost guides cover major categories such as roofing, gutters, HVAC, painting and siding, broken down by city so pricing reflects local market conditions in places like Durham, Raleigh, Charlotte, Cary and Chapel Hill.
Alongside cost guides, we maintain a directory of local contractor profiles. Each profile lists the services offered, service area, contact information and, where available, homeowner reviews, giving homeowners more to go on than a phone number and a star rating.
How we work with contractors
NC Homeowners Guide is supported in part by paid placements from local contractors. When a business appears as Featured, that status has been purchased and is always labeled as such, and it does not affect star ratings, review content or the accuracy of our cost guides. Homeowners can request free quotes through the site, and those requests are sent only to relevant, selected providers rather than to every business in the directory.
Serving homeowners across North Carolina
We currently cover major markets across the state, including Charlotte, Raleigh, Durham, Greensboro, Winston-Salem, Cary, Chapel Hill, Fayetteville, Wilmington, Asheville, High Point and Apex, with new cities and service categories added as coverage expands. Browse our contractor directory to see who serves your area.
For general guidance on hiring a contractor safely, including how to verify licensing and avoid common scams, the North Carolina Department of Insurance publishes consumer resources that are worth reviewing before signing any contract.
